My Services

Evaluations

Upon request, I will administer a full educational battery of tests and  determine whether your child meets the criteria to be classified with a  learning disabilty, specifically in the area of reading. Should that be  the outcome, then I will attend CSE meetings and act as your advocate.

If  your child is already classified, or if your child does not warrant a  full educational evaluation, I will either supplement your child's  previous testing, and/or administer independent tests, so that I can  pinpoint the underlying modality deficits (i.e., visual, auditory or  kinesthetic weaknesses), outline reasonable goals, and then, should you  decide to follow this pathway, tutoring will begin.

The Road to Success

I have been successful remediating countless of students who are now in college, graduate school, or in highly paid professions.

Tutoring for Dyslexics, At-Risk Children, and Other Challenged Readers

  • The  base of my program is Orton-Gillingham and I integrate whatever is  needed from additional multi-sensory programs including The Wilson  Reading System, Lindamood-Bell, Slingerland, Nina Traub, Alphabetic  Phonics, and Recipe for Reading. Having training in multiple interventional programs, I am in  the unique position of truly individualizing a program for every  child. The remediation program is multisensory, structured, sequential,  phonological, phonetic, and based on scientific research and evidence.  Therefore it incorporates the visual (eyes), auditory (ears), and  kinesthetic (touch) senses. Your child will learn to look at words more  carefully, hear individual sounds in words, link sounds to  letters, identify syllables within words, learn syllable division rules  to decode multisyllabic words, and apply all that he is learning,  to reading and spelling. Your child will also learn strategies and  techniques to increase his or her sight-word aquisition.
  • In  addition to decoding (sounding out words) and encoding (spelling), the  program also addresses written expression and comprehension skills.  If  needed, your child will be taught notetaking skills to enhance written  expression, and learn to visualize and verbalize what is read so that  comprehension of text will become an automatic process.
